Shop Local After School Program
WEST COVINA, CA, January 31, 2017 – The City of West Covina, in partnership with the West Covina Unified School District and the Covina Valley Unified School District, are excited to announce the kick-off for a new program and business opportunity to benefit our local youth. The new “Shop Local After School Program” is designed to encourage residents and visitors of West Covina to shop at local retailers that give back to local schools.
The program, once fully funded, will offer initiatives such as a culinary art class, or computer game engineering to students who either don’t have the means or the availability in their daily school schedules to take these programs. The City of West Covina and our local School Districts are currently seeking local business support for this new program for the youth in the community. Businesses that would like to participate as a sponsor may visit www.westcovina.org/shoplocalafterschool for additional information.
Once a business signs up to support the After School Program, the business name will be shared with the West Covina community to encourage residents to shop local and patronize those businesses that have stepped up to invest in our local youth.
“With local businesses’ support, the children of West Covina will benefit from enriching programs in science, engineering, music, dance, robotics, cultural arts, and many other after school programs while businesses will have the opportunity to receive increased brand awareness and marketing” said West Covina Mayor Corey Warshaw.
