Post Date:04/06/2017

WEST COVINA, April 6, 2017 – The City of West Covina will celebrate this year’s National Small Business Week (April 30 – May 6) by hosting the 2nd Annual West Covina Small Business Week (WCSBW).  West Covina Small Business Week was established as an opportunity to commemorate our local small businesses and honor the impact that they have on our community.  WCSBW will offer educational and networking events designed to inspire, educate, and connect small business owners to available resources.

“National Small Business Week provides a special opportunity for West Covina to acknowledge and celebrate the City’s entrepreneurs and small businesses,” said Victor Parker, District Director for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Los Angeles Office.  “We are proud to partner with the community in support of West Covina’s small businesses as they drive innovation, create opportunity and provide vital goods and services to the community.”

The City is partnering with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) located at the University of La Verne and Pasadena City College, SCORE, and the Greater West Covina Business Association (GWC) to host this year’s WCSBW program.

“It has been an honor working with the City of West Covina to host the 2nd Annual Small Business Week,” stated Sean Snider, Director for the University of La Verne Small Business Development Center.  “Civic and community engagement is a core value at the University of La Verne and it has been inspiring to see how the city is able to bring together so many resources to help support and recognize our local entrepreneurs.”

WCSBW will feature an Award Ceremony by the City of West Covina with Victor Parker, SBA District Director, as a keynote speaker, a presentation from the SBDC, a presentation from SCORE, and a “Dream BIG, Start Small” mixer at Craft Hill restaurant in West Covina to conclude the week. A Business Resource Expo will be available prior to the presentations for attendees to network and connect with available resources.  Attendees will also have an opportunity to win raffle prizes including gift cards to local businesses, tickets to the GWC’s monthly Networking Breakfasts and the “Dream Big, Start Small” mixer, and much more!

“We are thrilled to be hosting the 2nd Annual West Covina Small Business Week and acknowledge the positive impact that local small business owners have on our community,” stated West Covina Mayor Corey Warshaw.  “We are excited to introduce an awards component to the program and look forward to recognizing the winners.”
