REGULAR MEETING OF THE

WEST COVINA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

August 15, 2006

Vice Chairman Touhey called to order the regular meeting of the Community Development Commission at 9:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 1444 W. Garvey Avenue, West Covina.

ROLL CALL Vice Chairman Touhey

Commissioners Hernandez, Lane, Sanderson

Absent: Chairman Herfert

Others Present: Pasmant, Nichols, Anderson, Fields, Freeland, Holtz, Hoppe, Jamison, McNeill, Morgan, Paul, Rush, Samaniego, Yauchzee

CONSENT CALENDAR Commissioner Hernandez requested Item I-A be removed from the Consent Calendar for discussion.

I-A Program to Design a Conceptual Downtown Signage Program

Downtown Signage Commissioner Hernandez stated his support of signage but requested this item be held over for consideration after discussion of the Downtown Conceptual Plan list on the City Council agenda.

Vice Chairman Touhey stated he wanted to move forward as signage will identify the area as the Downtown and is a separate phase. Commissioner Sanderson concurred stating that signage will help designate the area as downtown regardless of the businesses there.

Community Development Commission Director Chung presented a brief overview of the signage program and answered questions.

Motion by Sanderson and seconded by Hernandez to authorize the Executive Director to execute an agreement for a not-to-exceed amount of $26,400 to Graphic Solutions to Design a Conceptual Downtown Signage program and to coordinate type of signage with potential developer. Motion carried 4-0.

ADJOURNMENT Motion by Sanderson and seconded by Lane to adjourn the meeting at 9:45 p.m. Motion carried 4-0.
