
The Environmental Services Section works with a host of other government agencies including the California Integrated Waste Management Board, the California Department of Conservation, the California and U.S. Environmental Protection Agencies, the South Coast Air Quality Management District, and the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts.
Residential and Commercial Waste Collection:Public Works, Enviromental Services Section manages the administration of the City's franchise agreement with Athens Services for
residential and commercial waste collection, including: the Clean-Up Saturdays,
5 Free Bulky-items per week pick-up, Unlimited Move-In/Move-Out pick-up, and the
Christmas Tree Recycling program. Also implements the City's
Low-Income Senior Citizen Waste Collection Discount program and Low-Income Senior Citizen Discounted Dog License program.
Waste Reduction and Recycling:Enviromental Services Section manages and implements recycling and reuse programs such as: the
Product Exchange program, Composting Education, Sharps Collection Container Distribution,
Used Oil Recycling program,
California Redemption Value (CRV) Recycling program, and coordination of the annual
West Covina/Los Angeles County Household Hazardous and E-Waste Round-Up.
