The City of West Covina City Council has approved the purchase of two new Pierce Fire Engines and one new Pierce Quint Aerial Truck Company. Pierce Manufacturing, located in Wisconsin, will be building the custom fire apparatus which will significantly improve and update the current Fire Department fleet. When received the new fire engines and quint aerial ladder truck will be placed into service as front line units. Upon their arrival, the new fire apparatus will add to the amount of reliable apparatus for use in a reserve capacity. Reserve apparatus are vital to maintaining the department’s ability to respond and provide service when frontline fire apparatus are taken out of service for maintenance. The extensive process of building the new fire engines and quint aerial ladder truck can take over a year and the West Covina Fire Department expects to be place the new units into service in early 2017.
