Councilman Tony Wu:

At Work Building Our City's Future

Dear Residents,

Thank you for all your support and commitment to our City of West Covina. I could not be more proud of all the work we have done. Of course, there is still much more work to be done and I will continue to work as hard as I can for our community.  With your help, I am confident that we will build West Covina as a vibrant, prosperous City to be proud of.

One Year Anniversary Recap of 2016:

  1. Internship Program: encourage college students to work for the City and also include high school students to work for sponsored businesses to gain work experience
  2. After School Shop Local Program: free after school programs for junior high and high schools sponsored by local businesses, and promoted by the City to encourage residents to shop local
  3. Branding West Covina Campaign: to become known nationally and internationally as a shopping destination by relentless promotions
  4. Swearing in Ceremony Event: improve to have a more inclusive and condensed event for newly elected Council Members
  5. Real Estate Improvement Program: allocating utility grant and CDBG funds to improve old homes to upgrade living conditions and property value
  6. Increase City Revenue: by bringing in more businesses and assisting our current businesses
  7. Fire Safety: surveying all fire hazard areas for potential fires of overgrown trees and brushes
  8. Senior Citizen Bill of Rights: reviewing services to ensure mobility, programs, facilities, and  housing for our senior residents
  9. BKK LandfiII Development: brought investors to the City  

Vision for Upcoming Year 2017:

  1. Cultural Arts: bring performances in music, dance, and art into our community
  2. Performing Arts Square: in our downtown area to regularly host our after school programs' performances and professional artists
  3. Developments along the 10 freeway: to increase our revenue and visibility
  4. Downtown Improvement: to become our entertainment center with various attractions
  5. Public Safety: improve our security by continuing to increase public safety staff
  6. Improve City Performance: by running it like a business and being more service oriented to serve our residents
  7. BKK Landfill Development: investors to develop, hotel, performing arts center, and recreational park
