Revitalizing Glendora Avenue to create a central gathering place for the community was conceived during the General Plan Update process. While the City has long considered the idea of creating such a place, the General Plan Update process provided an opportunity to bring the idea to life.
The overall concept discussed so far has been that of a "Ramblas" down the center part of Glendora Avenue. The word “ramblas” comes from a street in Barcelona, Spain; La Rambla is known as an inviting tree-lined street with popular shops and dining. The Glendora Avenue redesign would create an open space area along the center of Glendora Avenue, from Dalewood Street to Walnut Creek Parkway. The open space in the redesigned street would allow for civic events, festivals, and other types of community events.
The City has committed to redesign Glendora Avenue to incorporate the Ramblas concept and has hired a consultant to assist in the redesign. We are seeking input from the community and invite you to attend the upcoming meeting or contact us with any ideas, questions, or comments.
