On Tuesday, January 21, 2020, the City of West Covina will participate in the annual Homeless Count in partnership with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.  The numbers collected during the annual Homeless Count assist the City of West Covina with receiving future funding for homeless resources in the community.  Obtaining an accurate count is largely dependent on the number of volunteers that sign up to participate. 

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority will begin the count with a meeting at the Cameron Community Center on Tuesday, January 21^st at 8:00 p.m. The Cameron Community Center is located at 1305 East Cameron Avenue, West Covina, CA 91791. Light refreshments will be provided before volunteers are dispersed to start the count that evening and will count for 2-3 hours then report back to Cameron.

The City of West Covina is over 16 square miles in size.  With the help of volunteers throughout the community, the City of West Covina’s homeless population can be accurately counted.  During the Homeless Count, volunteers go out in groups to count homeless individuals, families, and encampments and report back directly to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority. To participate in the count, volunteers can either go online to www.theycountwillyou.org to sign up or a brief sign up form may be provided at the meeting. Volunteers 15-17 years of age must have a parent or guardian present throughout the event.
