Councilwoman Letty Lopez-Viado
Letty Lopez-Viado is the first Mexican-Filipina American ever to be elected as a Councilwoman with the City of West Covina. With her 18+ years of experience in the public sector and active volunteering, Letty has always kept community as her main focus. Letty participated in the City’s First Annual Community Service Day clean up at Cortez Park with her church, coached youth basketball at Cameron Community Center, and participated in the West Covina Sunrise Rotary Charity Basketball Game at West Covina High School benefitting the student scholarship program. She is a lifetime member of the Friends of West Covina Library supporting literacy programs in the community. Letty served as a West Covina Community and Senior Services Commissioner beginning in 2013 until November 2018, when she was elected to the City Council. She is currently a Sr. Director II with the City of Los Angeles, Department of Recreation & Parks and has a Master's Degree in Communication Studies from Cal State Los Angeles. Letty is married and has a son and daughter.
Letty’s goals for The City of West Covina include improving the quality of life for our residents by ensuring our parks are clean and safe; supporting and strengthening our public safety to protect our community; building a business friendly community that supports our local business as well as attracting new businesses to generate new tax revenue; using common sense to balance the budget by controlling spending; increasing transparency within our City by providing residents the opportunity to become involved.
Letty’s vision is to create a beautiful and safe community where residents can live, shop, and play.
