Councilwoman Rosario Diaz

Rosario Diaz was born in San Antonio Texas and moved to California when she was 5 years old. She had humble beginnings in East LA, and attended Ford Elementary School. She graduated from Pioneer High School and attended Rio Hondo Community College and UCLA extension. Rosario is married and has one son, one daughter, and one granddaughter. She is an animal lover who rescued both of her dogs from local shelters.

Rosario served as a Tax Auditor with the Internal Revenue Service for over 10 years. Later, she graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and became a Special Agent with the United States Treasury. Rosario was a team member with the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA-Los Angeles) and conducted complex criminal investigations on major tax fraud cases for over 20 years. She was honorably retired from Federal Law Enforcement in 2014.

In 2020, with no political experience, no endorsements, and very little money, Rosario became the first Mexican-American woman elected to the West Covina City Council, representing the people of District 3. She takes great pride in her continued service to this community, believing our Constitution is the guide for all decisions made by government, at all times. Rosario is a tax-payer advocate whose goal is to be a good steward of our city’s finances.

In her spare time, she enjoys walking, hiking, improving her mid-century ranch, and is an active member of her church. She loves to travel and has been all over America. Rosario is also a world traveler who has visited Canada, Mexico, Italy, Thailand, Taiwan, and China.
