For the first time in over a decade, the Baldwin Park Housing Authority (BPHA) is opening the wait list for a housing subsidy program, also known as the Section 8 Program. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and provides housing subsidies for families whose household incomes, depending on family size, are less than 50 percent of the median income in Los Angeles County. Participants can find their own housing, which includes single family homes, townhomes, and apartments. Families with vouchers generally pay between 30 to 40 percent of their adjusted monthly gross income as rent.
The Baldwin Park Housing Authority, which serves City of West Covina residents, will be accepting applications online for Section 8-housing choice vouchers starting at 8 a.m. on August 2, 2016, and ending at 8 a.m. on August 9, 2016. Anyone can apply, but only 2,000 applications will be chosen for the wait list through a random lottery.
You may complete a pre-application online once the waiting list has opened at: www.baldwinpark.com or www.waitlistcheck.com/CA2295. Pre-applications will only be provided on-line and will NOT be available at the Baldwin Park Housing Authority Office.
BPHA does not consider anyone ineligible for the waiting list. Final determination of eligibility will be verified once the family is selected. To ensure availability and access to the on-line system, BPHA has partnered with the West Covina Public Library for individuals that need access to a computer or the internet (1601 West Covina Parkway, West Covina, CA 91790). During the initial opening, the Library will have internet access available to provide assistance with the application process and submittal. Only one application may be submitted, duplicate applications will not be accepted. By submitting a pre-application you are NOT guaranteed placement on the waiting list.
